COMPOST KIDS is on it’s fourth lesson taught by Pamela Davis. So far students in Mrs. Brennan, Mrs. Bochicchio, Mrs. Pinkava, Mrs. Zarro, Mr. Todd and Mrs. Keshishian have had hands-on lessons that compliment existing science and social studies units of study. Through these indoor and outdoor lessons, students have learned about vermicomposting, the importance of good soil, decomposers and how to effectively compost leftover snacks from the classroom. The compost generated through COMPOST KIDS will continue to nurture plant growth and support the Outdoor Classroom/Garden’s stability. Students are beginning to understand that we don’t feed our plants, but instead we feed the soilin order to grow healthy food.
