NOMINATIONS NEEDED FOR
ANNUAL PTSA AWARDS
It's that time of year again when we start to think about the special volunteers in the PTSA organization who have gone above and beyond all year long! There are a number of awards that are given each year including The Abigail Chapman Northrop Volunteer of the Year Award, The Carey Mougis Advocacy Award plus Special Recognition Awards.
Please take the time to nominate individuals who have dedicated their time and effort to the PTSA and to our children and schools. These awards will be presented at the PTSA End-of-Year Dinner on Friday, June 2nd at Mead House (SAVE THE DATE)! Read below for a brief summary of award descriptions and click here for submission form and instructions.
As always, the Abigail Chapman Northrop Volunteer of the Year Award ( "The Abby") will go to a parent volunteer. A founding member of the Dobbs Ferry PTSA, Abigail Chapman Northrop was a warm and loving human being who absolutely personified the best attributes of a PTSA volunteer. Abby was compassionate enough to "parent beyond her own", giving to ALL the children of Dobbs Ferry with her time, energy and commitment to their future. Each spring, the Abigail Chapman Northrop Volunteer of the Year Award honors Abby’s spirit and her memory by recognizing the outstanding volunteers to the Dobbs Ferry PTSA who have followed in her footsteps.
The Carey Mougis Advocacy Award will go to a community volunteer that always strives to advocate for children in our community. This award is named after an active volunteer who ardently believed in the potential of all children undeterred by their abilities or circumstances. Carey’s core philosophy embraced the belief that all children deserve to be educated in a caring, nurturing environment. She was an advocate for the Dobbs Ferry School District model of inclusion and truly carried out the PTSA slogan: “Every Child, One Voice”. The Carey Mougis Advocacy Award honors her spirit and her memory by recognizing those individuals who have followed in her footsteps.
The Special Recognition Awards are designed to honor those special individuals who have worked diligently on behalf of the PTSA. Recognition Awards are given in all of the following categories: Parent, Teacher/Staff, Student, and Administrator.
Please send all nominations to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 19th .
